It's because I come from a developing city, Sandakan."
This is always my inner conversation to explain why people around me don't understand Psychology, that's why a lot of students including myself encountered a lot of criticism and disagreement towards your choice, Psychology.
Hi all.
I am Gary, come from Sandakan, Sabah.
I am an ordinary student, same with others, who are interested in Psychology and take Psychology.
However, I discovered that I have a lot of friends who gave up to study Psychology because of the peer pressure and the culture around the living place.
It's because others can't see the function of Psychology.
It's because Psychology seems "incompetent" when it stands along with Engineering, Architecture, Pharmacy.
From my personal experience, I nearly start a conflict with a businessman when he keeps criticizing how useless Psychology is and how he earns a lot of money without knowing Psychology.
When time goes on, I discover that their ignorance towards Psychology is not their fault.
Why keep blaming the slow development of my own city and pointing finger towards the culture within your place?
I always tell others that we need time for people to accept Psychology in their place.
Until one day, I tell myself, how long we have to wait?
Five years, ten years, or forever?
Why don't we as Psychology students pick up the educating roles, to share what we know and help them to learn and apply with Psychology.
I tell myself, I have the responsibility.
Being in the trend of Psychology, we have the responsibilities.
We are the ones who are nearest to Psychology,
if we don't take the first pace, who else?
That's how MY Psychology is born with this idea as well as my personal struggling experience with this course.
In line with my interest and passion in video-editing, I have an idea to produce a series of Youtube Channel to introduce Psychology knowledge and share its application in daily life and human interaction. By realizing this goal, I see the need of transforming the Psychology knowledge into public language, to make it more understandable and more approachable.
Slowly, I share this idea with my friends and some of them who believe this is workable are currently part of the production team. The team slowly shapes and the outline of the channel is slowly sharpened. Also, this is followed by the name of the channel.
I have used up few nights to think of the name of this channel, and here comes the name of "MY Psychology" after discussion with my production members.
MY Psychology signifies the field of Psychology in Malaysia (MY), and the word "MY" comes with the self-entitlement and connection with Psychology. We do hope that our channel approaches larger range of audiences and help them to learn the application of Psychology in daily life, meanwhile make contribution to the growth of Psychology in our country.
MY Psychology, this channel which comprises of Psychology knowledge is packaged with the efforts of the whole production team, we will work the best as we can, to enable everyone, to LEARN Psychology, to SHARE Psychology with others and APPLY Psychology to make life better.
Before I end this, I would like to send my deepest appreciation to my friends who believe this idea and join the production team for the first episode.
