A Blatant Show Off

We know we know... The quality of our first video sucks... That's why we decided to buy some equipment to further enhance our presentation, as well as enable you guys to have a much more satisfying experience while viewing our videos (instead of hearing constant static in the background, or having no special effects at all in our videos, which we know you guys hated so much of).

And sooooo.... Give a round of applause to our new microphone!!!!
Hey guys!

Yeah it looks very cheap, but hey, we are just getting started, plus its very useful too, once you get past its homely appearance. ^^

*Notice me senpai!!!*

With this baby, we will be able to add in many special effects through our *cough*talented*cough* video editor. So be prepared for many hilarious and absurd (and some downright stupid) effects in our video in the future. xD

We know this update sounds more like a showing off of our new gadgets and gizmos, but trust me, its not. >.>

Putting the jokes aside, we sincerely hope that we will be making more presentable videos in the future for you guys to enjoy, and we hope you guys will continue supporting us in the future.

That's all for this update, and there will be a teaser video up during the next few days. Please anticipate it! ^^

Peace out.

Thanks, Meetings, & The Near Future

Hello fellow psychology enthusiasts! Thank you guys for viewing and supporting our "debut video" on the interesting topic of waiting psychology.

There are many ways that we want to express our gratitude towards you guys, but let us just skip the cheesy part, shan't we? Because words can't even begin to describe what we feel now, with us setting out on our path towards our dreams, and the excitement we feel when we started this project. This path has been tiresome, but it is strangely fulfilling in its own way.  :)

Since words can't express our feelings and gratitude, we decided to make another video to commemorate this occasion. We have been having meetings and discussions on what to do next, and guess what??? We have already decided on a topic that is sure to excite you guys. It will be about another phenomenon that is close to our daily lives, and we will make sure to keep it informative as well as enjoyable.

                                                                      Very serious.....

                                                                        I think not!!!
Looking at the lamp for inspiration
                                                             Are you looking at me??!!!

There will be updates coming up very soon, we hope you guys will look forward to it! ^^

That's all for this post. Make sure to look out for our next video, and be sure to LIKE our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/mypsychologychannel , and subscribe our YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_bbrWpyGBCSEcDrfBbdMSA?feature=watch for further updates!

And for those who haven't watch our first video, what are you guys still doing here, go watch it!!! :P

Psychology of Waiting (Behind the Scenes 2)

Hi, I am Tin Fung, a member of MY psychology Channel. I am a psychology student just like the other members. We are a group of passionate students who wish to make psychology knowledge/ information available for everyone.

We started the investigation from our own experiences in Kuala Lumpur. As a student in Kuala Lumpur, bus is the most economical way for us to get to our destination. However, the average waiting time for bus in Malaysia is 30 to 40 minutes. This actually led us to feel frustrated and anxious sometimes while waiting for the bus. Thus, the founder of this channel, Gary Yap suggested us to make an investigation towards Psychology of Waiting in the first production. We are interested to know that why do we feel such as a way while we spend our time in waiting. We have searched for the journal and article regarding the psychology of waiting and compiled everything.

It’s quite challenging in the first shooting of our production, as our assignment submission date and final exam are quite near. In addition, we do not have experiences on this kind of production. We try our best to squeeze out a time slot to shoot our first video. Although my English command is not really good, they gave me the opportunity to be one of the Emcee in this video. I found that it’s not easy to be an announcer especially for me whom Chinese is the first language. After the bio psych exam, we spent 2 hours to brief the whole script and about 4 to 5 hours to shoot the video. I never know that video shooting can be so fun, lot of funny NG and jokes during the shooting progress. Besides, our own production team has also conducted an observational study near a bus stop and we obtained interesting findings.

This psychology channel not only offer simplified psychology knowledge to the public, but also act as a stage for “us”, as students to improve ourselves and sharpen our skills. Last but not least, I would like to say thank you to MY psychology channel for giving me such an opportunity to participate in this meaningful program.

Psychology of Waiting (Behind the Scenes)

The whole video that posted in youtube would provide enough of information about psychology of waiting. (Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xe4yR0IMwPY). So I am gonna update the blog about my emotion during the creation and also the feeling along the process of making it happen.

My name is Mu Yi and I am gonna use MY as the signature of myself. I had been waiting for my whole life, perhaps even myself is not aware that I am waiting for it. Waiting for someone or some-many-one to work together for something that is worth telling. Of course it is not a wise move to wait for someone but to approach them. However, I am lucky enough to meet the few people in my life to achieve for something called dream.

The shooting of the first video was a rush. A rush to make sure our fire did not burn off and give a great head start. The shooting was not that smooth yet tiring. Me and another announcer (Tin Fung) had been struggling to remember even a short line for about ten words. To put yourself in front of the lens of camera is not an easy thing. Often a small step to move in front the camera would create a great amount of fear and anxious feeling.

However, we are lucky enough to have each other to rely and support to make the first episode happen. Gary, our director had definitely make a great amount of contribution especially making a great start and editing the whole video. He is and will be a great leader to lead us to produce more video.

To all who are reading this post, do not be like me. Not everyone is so lucky in terms of WAITING. Somebody don't even get the chance to meet the 'special' team to achieve their dream. So, do not wait any more. Even though you know the best way to spend on while waiting for someone, it is still a bad idea to just sit there and wait.

Do it!

MY.

A Small Yet Significant Dream

Koo Yong Boon, Videographer & Announcer
Hey guys, my name is Koo Yong Boon, you can call me Franky as well. When people ask what I am studying now, and after they know the answer, half of them will give me the face like “What? Are you sure?” Then, those people will ask the following questions like “So can you read my mind now?”, “Do you know what I’m thinking?”, “What are you going to do in your future?”, “Are you sure Psychology can help you earn money?”, and etc.

The reason why I want to study psychology is because I’m interested with it, simple and easy. I like to interact with people, I want to learn more about a person, and I want to know the role that psychology plays in our life. "MY Psychology", is a group of passionate students who are trying to share the knowledge of psychology to the public audience by using simple, easy, and understandable language. We are trying to make a difference in this society. Since psychology is everywhere in our life, no matter what you are doing, there are sure to have something that related to psychology. Your habit, your friends, your family, and the characteristic of you, all of these are some of the factors that shaped who you are today, and all of these are related to psychology.

Throughout this production team, you get to learn more about how psychology plays an important role in our daily life. I’m now the second year last semester student in HELP University Bachelor of Psychology degree course, I really enjoy what I have learned here, and it really affected my life so much. In these two years of studying psychology, I have changed my perspectives towards my life and this world so much.

There will always be reasons for you to do something, so there must have some reasons why I want to join in this production team too. Basically what I want to achieve in this production team is I want to learn more about video shooting skills and I want to learn more about the topic that I’m interested with. Normally in our education system, we are always getting spoon fed by teachers or lecturers. Due to this spoon feeding factor, most of the students nowadays don’t have the motivation to study the things that they were interested with. The education system in Malaysia had made majority of the students aim for the result in exam rather than aim for their dreams. You get how many A's in the exam is the result to show that how hard working and how intelligent you are. I totally disagree with this. It is true that some of the students they are really hard working and intelligent, they deserved to get the A's they want, but some of the students are being forced to get that A, they are being forced to do the things that they don’t like. I personally felt that nowadays, the majority of the adolescence in this society has lost their dreams. We are being force to learn the things that have been set by the education system, most of the time we are not allowed to question why we need to learn the things that we don’t like and the things that seem like not going to be useful in the future. However, we can’t refuse to learn, and so, we learned helplessness.

We learned to use another way to learn what we want to learn and what we interested to learn. That’s one of the reasons why we have "MY Psychology" today. We are using another platform to learn what we are interested with and what we are feeling that public audience should know with. I’m very glad that I have a chance to join into this production team. Thanks to all the members in this production team who are giving me a lot of chances to do what I want. Thanks to the people who are supporting us, you guys are the reason why we want to continue for it. Thank you.

A Golden Oppurtunity

Chan Ken Len, Designer
Hi all! This is Ken Len here. I am a second year psychology student in HELP University. I am really glad that I was able to become part of this production team.By joining this production, I look forward to expand and further develop my understanding about psychology. I am also desperate to learn about psychology knowledge that are out of the textbooks. Besides learning, I wish to apply these psychology knowledge to my daily life as well.

This production team aims to spread the knowledge of psychology among Malaysians' society as most of the Malaysians do not understand how psychology works. We wish to develop further understanding about psychology among Malaysians through publishing videos on Youtube since Youtube is one of the most visited webpage in today's Internet era.

I hold the position as a design assistant in this production. I hope I am able to provide assistance to the team with my skills and talent in art.

Last but not least, a million thanks to the founder of this Youtube Channel, Gary Yap who gave me this golden opportunity to present myself to all of you! For all the supporters, we will repay your support with the best of us! Cheers and stay tuned! :)

The Choice, Present & Future

Low Kok Sern, Researcher & Translator
Ladies and Gentlemen, I am Low Kok Sern.

I participant this production team because I felt that many Malaysians are not aware about the usages of psychology. Many people also got the wrong notion about psychology and think that psychology is all about reading one another's mind. Whenever I talk to my friends or relatives, they always ask if I know what they are thinking then. Then, they will said that they cannot talk too much as we psychology students will be able to know secret. I am utterly speechless that many did not now the real purpose of understanding psychology.

Besides, most Malaysians think that psychology students have a hard time finding a good job. What they don’t know is that our everyday lives are closely tied with psychological knowledge. When people communicate with each other, when a mother is teaching her child, or even when a person is eating or doing something, all of it is closely related to psychology appliances.

One of the goals of "my psychology" is to help people to better understand psychology as this production team will use an easy way to let people know more about psychology. So, that is one of the most important reason for me to participate in this production team.

I can learn many things in this production team. I learn how to make a video and learn how to write a script. I also learn extra psychology knowledge through this channel, because all of us need to do more research to let us have enough information to create a new episode.

I will not regret my choice for participating in "my psychology", and I am sure that in my near future I will not regret this choice either.

An Awesome Team & An Awesome World

Siow Ghee Hong, Researcher & Translator
Hi, everyone. I am Siow Ghee Hong. You can call me Yihong. I’m an ordinary student in HELP University and is also currently taking the course of Bachelor of Psychology with my fellow members in MY PSYCHOLOGY.

I would like to say that I am very happy I can be one of the members in this AWESOME team. Before I join this team, my uni life is only about assignments, exams, sleep, eat and play.

But now! I am different since my friend, Gary Yap, who gathers me and the seven other members here and do what we can do by sharing our Psychology knowledge with the public. This channel is our motivation to encourage us to move forward, learn and improve ourselves. We try to spread our knowledge to people around us especially to those who don’t actually understand what psychology is and help them to apply it in their daily lives through this channel.

Every day we live in world of Psychology, psychology is always around  us if you realize it and understand it. Psychology explains our human beings in term of mental process and behaviour.

If you want to learn more, please subscribe our Youtube channel and see more updates in our Facebook page and Blog here. :)

The Road That I Plunge Myself In

Hew Chong Shen, Blogger & Scriptwriter
My name is Hew Chong Shen, some may call me Hew just for simplicity's sake. I have been studying psychology for two years now (in an undisclosed university), and although the program allows me to learn many theories and understand human's peculiarities, it never allows me and my friends a place to apply our learned knowledge.

That's when my friend suggested to launch this project, so that we can spread our knowledge in the field of psychology as well as let more people be aware of the many subtleties of psychology appliances in our everyday life.

This is something that I never thought I would do, but I am very excited by this very notion, and I hope that I won't disappoint my fellow groupmates and you guys as well.

Moreover, I manage to become a part of a movement that I am sure will give rise to many more such projects to come, and I found myself immersed in a group of friends that have the same ambition as myself.

Many of my groupmates is very talented, some more talented in others in their particular areas, and I hope together, our talents combined can bring forth something that is entertaining as well as knowledgeable to everyone else.

Lastly, I honestly don't know where this road will lead us, but I hope it's somewhere that is full of laughter and enjoyment.

Love you guys, and stay awesome. :)

Psychology is everywhere

Chong Tin Fung, Announcer & Scriptwriter
Hey, I am Tin Fung, who is currently taking the course, Bachelor of Psychology in HELP University. I am glad to be a one of the member in My Psychology. This channel functioning as a medium for everyone to learn psychology. We would like to share about what we actually understand about the term, “Psychology” to the public. I strongly believe that the public has huge misunderstanding towards Psychology due to what media has portrayed. Hence, in this channel, we wished to change this faulty thought about psychology and insert new image of psychology to everyone.

So let’s talk about how we started to have this channel. It started from our founder, Gary Yap, a talkative, humor person who is my roommate and also housemate. He has a dream which is producing an educational video regarding to Psychology, to tell the people around him what psychology is. After a long period of struggle, Gary Yap finally gathered seven other members and created MY PSYCHOLOGY!

I feel that I am so lucky to have a group of passionate friends who always bring me new experiences. We live together, we study together, we play together, we help each other, and lastly, we created My Psychology together. I would like to say that this channel is not only an educational channel but also a symbol of our friendship and brotherhood. I believe that as time passes, we will have huge personal growth on each one of us as well as bringing some little changes to this country.

If you pay enough attention, “Psychology” is everywhere!

A small step in my life

Hor Mu Yi, Announcer & Scriptwriter
Hello everyone, my name is Hor Mu Yi. One of the co-producer of this channel and a close friend to other mates. This is the first post for me to post about MyPsychology, let me not brainwash you folks first and give a brief introduction on how I get involved in this channel.

I once answered a tutor that we students of psychology should only concentrate on studying what is about psychology only. I was wrong. I think we are also responsible in spreading the ideas of Psychology and passing the knowledge we had learned around.

So there is one day my friend, Gary told me about this idea and I was like, "No, I do not know how to make videos wo!". But things did not end here as I had been searching for something to do and move forward. This would be a great place for me to learn a lot and improve! We soon discuss the details about the channel and pull a few other highly motivated mates to join us and start shooting the video.

The process of shooting was fun and hard. As the process goes along, I had trade in my time, energy and resources in return for great experience, friendship and knowledge! I told myself that if I could ever made this done, I will be standing on a new height than others. Yes, comparing with others is not a shameful thing and is a positive energy that keeps me moving!

It will be a small step in my life. A small decision I had made during the year 2013. A single nod towards my friend's request. Hopefully the following videos that we made were able to make a big change in your life.

Signing out, MY.
